AMANITA REGALIS
Amanita regalis, the royal or brown fly agaric, grows in the boreal forests of Fennoscandia and the Baltics. Its liver-brown to bronze cap and pale warts set it apart from its scarlet relative, Amanita muscaria, and, because its natural range runs so much narrower, we spend far longer in the forest to gather the same quantity. At WildAmanita we hand-pick every cap in untouched woodland, and then we dry it slowly at low temperature. Since gentle heat treats the tissue far better than fast, hot drying, the caps keep their deep bronze tone, firm structure and natural compound profile. We also keep every batch pure no blending, no fillers, just one species in each pack.
Our royal fly agaric range covers four formats:
- Dried caps – A Grade hand-sorted whole caps in 50 g, 100 g, 500 g and 1 kg, plus Premium+ class unopened caps in 30 g and 50 g, which we pick before the veil opens, so they keep their compact, rounded shape.
- Capsules – 0.4 g of finely milled cap material in each, available as 20-count packs and in 100, MaxiPack 300 and MegaPack 500 formats.
- Liquid preparations – Fermentum 50 ml, which we ferment and bottle in dark glass, and glycerine.
- Powder – the same finely milled cap material in loose form.
In addition, our ToTryKit brings together 20 capsules each of Amanita muscaria, Amanita regalis and Amanita pantherina, so collectors can compare all three species side by side.
Mycologists long treated Amanita regalis as a variety of Amanita muscaria, hence the older name A. muscaria var. regalis, before recognising it as a species in its own right. It appears in Nordic, Baltic and Siberian ethnobotanical records, yet collectors encounter it far less often than its red-capped relative. We ship worldwide in discreet, sealed packaging. Before ordering, please check the legal status of Amanita species in your own country, since regulations differ from one market to another.
